Melaka

Melaka is a state that is abundantly rich, not just in natural resources but also in history and folklore. It is here in the city of Melaka where the history of Malaysia began.

Malacca is the third smallest state in Malaysia and is located in the south of the peninsular (2° 12′ 0″ N, 102° 15′ 0″ E 2.2, 102.25). The capital of the state is Malacca Town. This historical city centre is listed as a World Heritage Site of UNESCO, hence tourism is its main sector of economy.

Apart from tourism, manufacturing activities ranging from food to consumer product can also be found. In the midst of restructuring its economy development, Melaka economic growth is centred on the manufacturing sector in accordance with its State Government mission to turn the state into a 'fully industrialised state' by the year 2010.
